Lilly Pulitzer For Target

April 19th 2015 was the release of the Lilly Pulitzer collaboration with Target.  Words cannot describe how excited I was to hear of such news!  I was up ALL night on the early morning hours of April 19th trying to get my order in online, of course I knew there was a high demand for the items but I was not expecting a complete shut down and crash of the entire website.

Finally after trying 50 million times I was able to get myself signed in to start adding things to my cart, by that time everything had completely sold out.  I have no idea what happened but Shi*t just got real!

As a Nebraskan, I know many people here don't know who Lilly Pulitzer is and we don't have any stores in the state.  I wasn't sure how crazy the release was going to turn out here.  I lined up around 7:40am April 19th at a local store.  Before the doors were open there were about 30 ladies in line, we all kept telling ourselves "everyones here for something different" and we all laughed.

As soon as the doors opened there was a mad dash to grab a cart and RUN!! RUN for your LIFE!! lol I went straight for the 'seasonal' section as I had my eye on most of the home goods items.  Lucky for me, I was literally the first one there and I could see others running towards me in a panic.  I quickly grabbed as many items on my list that I could.

The funny thing is, the entire ordeal seemed like a blur to me (maybe because I was up all night trying to get into the website and was a little delirious). There were many things I wanted that I didn't even remember seeing. It was definitely a crazy experience that I am not sure I want to experience again.....Not to mention, someone actually stole the Lilly umbrella out of my cart!! (bastard) Lucky for me they didn't see the other one on the bottom shelf and I quickly grabbed it.

In general I made out pretty well, there are still many things that I have on my list.  Because I went straight for the seasonal area I was unable to grab anything from the woman's clothing or accessories. I figured, Lilly makes clothes all the time  - she doesn't always make hammocks or patio umbrellas :)

Take a look at some of the items I scored from the release below. I hope you all got a piece that you wanted from the Lilly for Target release.  How did you all make out? I would love to hear your stories!

Looking for some unique ideas on updating some old furniture? We all have that old stuff lying around, coffee tables, chairs and old shelves.   Recycling furniture is one of my favorite past times. Below I have a few fun ideas constructing such a project.

Side note - did you know that furniture is the number one least recycled item in a household? Yikes, for more fun facts and ideas be sure to visit Custom Made for some great projects!

DiY Shelf Re-Do!

Often times instead of buying new furniture I like to try to spruce things up myself.  As you can see, I had a boring brown press-wood shelf haunting me in the corner of my office room.  Of course it was a great functional piece of furniture and there was nothing wrong with it - other than the fact that it was just kinda blahhhh....

I decided that I would try out a Pinterest project found here I loved the idea of putting a print on the backside of the shelf. I saw this project done in many different versions on Pinterest, some people went for wallpaper on the backside where as I went for fabric just like soyouthinkyourecrafty.com.

1. Realistically, I was in a mad rush to get this project done as I am trying to 'perfect' my office as fast as I can lol. First, I took all of the shelves out and brought them outside for a fun field day of spray painting. Next, I brought out the whole shebang (of course I had to ask my husband for help. Luckily he just rolled his eyes and did what I asked).

2. After spraying everything white (including myself) I left the shelf dry outside for about an hour or so. Also, I noticed the back-side cardboard was nailed into the back of the shelf.....

3. Needless to say the cardboard on the back was quite a challenge, instead of taking the nails out and wrapping the fabric around the backside as a whole I decided to take a different approach. I used clear tacks to position the fabric all around the backside of the shelf - this way, if I ever decide to change the fabric I can take out the thumb tacks and re-position a new design.

I really enjoyed this project and would love to do this with many other pieces.  I have a set of chairs I am just dying to re-do, I will keep you posted on that!

January Favorites

January is a time to start fresh and anew! Personally, my purse is a good place to begin with as it was looking pretty sad on December 31.

I have put together a few accessories to help you get organized in your purse and your life. Of course, I cant forget a little something for the home so I threw in a awesome candle from Francesca's.

Another favorite of mine is this winter season is the The Ansley slipper from UGG® Australia. These puppies keep my feet pretty warm in this good old Nebraska weather. Tomorrow we are expecting Winds chills of around -30. If only I could stay in my slippers all day.....

Start 2015 Out Right

Wow! I can't believe it is already 2015!! Time flys when your having fun.  I have set a few goals for myself this year starting with my blog, my Etsy shop, my design work and an e- commerce site that I am trying to get into the works.

The problem is, I love so many things that I am not entirely sure of what to sell, of course I have a few ideas but then I go back to re-thinking them and then I just keep going in circles. :) None-the-less I am much closer now then I was early last year.  I am super excited for 2015 and can't wait to see what it has in store for me.

With all of the goals out of the way I wanted to share a line of Steve Madden shoes that I am absolutely in love with! The Galactik line. These puppies are sure to make a statement and will go with many different outfits. I just bought mine last week at Von Maur here in Omaha, NE.  You can catch these shoes at many different retailers but only a few of them have them on sale.

Right now you can catch a CRAZY deal on these shoes at Lord and Taylor for $54.99

These adorable flats and on sale at Younkers for $29.49
